EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR SERVICES

SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE
Everything you wanted to know about your MANUFACTURER SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE but were afraid to ask. . .
True: Advances in automotive technology have resulted in cars that are better built and longer lasting, but no matter what the dealer's commercial may promise, they are not maintenance-free and parts do wear down. To assure peak performance and to assure that you get years of trouble-free driving, your manufacturer has developed a recommended maintenance schedule for your vehicle, which is outlined in your owner's manual.

When should my car have Scheduled Maintenance?

There are two types of maintenance services - minor and major. Minor services are generally performed at 7,500, 15,000, 45, 000 and 75,000 miles while major services are performed at 30,000, 60,000 and 90,000 mile intervals.

What is the "minor service"?

While it varies by make and model, minor services generally include:

changing the oil and oil filter.
lubricating the chassis if it has not been factory sealed.
an inspection of all fluids, filters, belts, hoses, brakes and emissions.
Some manufacturers recommend tire rotation as a part of a minor service.
What is the "major service"?

While it varies by make and model, major services generally include:

all minor services.
the replacement of various filters, fluids, and spark plugs.
timing belt replacement at the manufacturer’s recommended replacement interval.
other specified major services relate to the fuel delivery, emissions, and ignition systems.
Will your service validate my warranty?

Scheduled maintenance service must be completed in order to keep your warranty valid, and GOODYEAR is authorized to perform most of the services recommended by each manufacturer.

As with all services you receive at Precision Tune Auto Care, the parts we install will meet or exceed manufacturer’s standards, and all used parts will be returned to you upon request.

JASONS AUTO REPAIR strongly advises that you have maintenance services performed based on the manufacturer’s suggested schedule. Additional services may also be recommended based on our inspection of the vehicle and industry standards.

WHEEL ALIGNMENT,STEERING AND SUSPENSION
  Steering, Suspension, & Alignment
Have you ever driven down the road and had the feeling that your car wants to turn when you want to go straight? That’s called pulling. Or maybe you hit a bump and the car kept bouncing. And bouncing. Not good. And not safe.

To maintain precise control, your car’s wheels need to be in firm contact with the road at all times. That’s where your suspension system comes in. It needs to be able to absorb bumps smoothly and steer properly, which in turn requires a fully functioning suspension system with proper wheel alignment. That’s where over 50 years of our expertise can help.

Whether your vehicle has a conventional suspension system with shock absorbers or a strut-based system (which is typical in many front-wheel-drive cars),JASONS AUTO REPAIR has the know-how to diagnose and repair any problem. We also have the equipment necessary to correct any alignment issues we might find.

Think you have steering or suspension problems? Beside pulling and bouncing, telltale signs include uneven or excessive tire wear and poor steering control. If you notice any of these symptoms, or if you have questions about steering or alignment, stop by at JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER. You can count on our skilled mechanics to help make your ride as safe as it is smooth.

OIL CHANGE
When was your last oil change? Not sure? Hey, that's not good. Changing your oil every 3,000 miles (5,000 kilometers), or as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer based on your driving conditions, is vital for your vehicle and can help you avoid costly problems.  With each oil change, the oil filter may also need to be replaced.

Ask for an oil change and a trained GOODYEAR technician will select the correct viscosity grade oil for your vehicle and perform oil and filter service.  While you’re there, ask for a  Courtesy Check, including a visual check of the following items:

Engine air filter
Brake fluid
Power steering fluid
Automatic transmission fluid
Coolant/antifreeze
We'll also walk you through your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations for replacing these vital fluids and filters.

BELTS AND HOSES
Did you know that sooner or later your vehicle's engine accessory drive belts and coolant hoses will dry out and crack? Over time, belts and hoses lose their ability to properly expand and contract.

And that's not good. One sudden malfunction of these relatively inexpensive but very important parts can have costly consequences.

So, stop by your neighborhood GOODYEAR and we can help you avoid this kind of breakdown. In addition to oil changes, we also provide a range of preventive car maintenance services, including belt and hose replacement.

Our experienced mechanics can detect many potential belt and hose problems with a simple visual inspection. Regular inspections, coupled with timely belt and hose replacement in accordance with your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations, will help protect against expensive repairs.

AIR CONDITION SYSTEM SERVICE
Everything you wanted to know about your AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM but were afraid to ask. . .

If your car's air conditioning isn't working up to par, don't sweat it. In most cases, JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER can solve the problem.

When should my air conditioning system be checked?

Each year prior to the warm weather months - or - any time it isn't working to your satisfaction, bring it in for an A/C Check.

What is included in the Air Conditioning Service?

A/C performance system check.
A/C system inspection.
Are there environmental concerns with Air Conditioning?

Because the refrigerant used in some air conditioning systems is considered harmful to the environment, it is important that it not be allowed to escape during servicing. We begin each air conditioning service with a leak detection test. Our technicians use a sealed, environmentally friendly process that captures the refrigerant, cleans it, replenishes it and returns it to your car's air conditioning system good as new.

What if my car still uses freon?

Air conditioning systems in cars built before 1995 use the refrigerant R-12 or (CFC-12) also referred to as Freon. The EPA determined that Freon was destroying the ozone layer and in 1995 all production ceased. Freon is now extremely expensive and difficult to find.JASONS AUTO offers a retrofit service that enables your A/C system to use the inexpensive R-134a refrigerant. The retrofit pays for itself in cost savings on the refrigerant.

What does the retrofit service include?

All retrofits are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Different vehicles may require slightly different procedures.
We evacuate all R-12 and most of the existing refrigerant oils from the air conditioning system.
In some instances, certain parts, such as the O-rings, hoses, accumulator or receiver/dryer, must be replaced to assure compatibility with R-134a.
In addition, special fittings and labels must be placed on the vehicle to properly identify that it has been retrofitted. This is required by law and is a mandatory part of any air-conditioning retrofit procedure.
A retrofit does not fix a broken air conditioning system. If your A/C is not cooling properly then a diagnosis must be performed to determine the problem. Only after a complete diagnosis, can a decision be made whether to repair the A/C system and then plan a retrofit. If a retrofit is desired, then it is important to know this when planning the repair.
As with all services you receive at JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER, the parts we install will meet or exceed original equipment manufacturer's specifications, and all used parts will be returned to you upon request.

This service, like all services performed at JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTERS, is advised based on manufacturer's recommendations or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.

AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM SERVICE
Everything you wanted to know about AIR INTAKE but were afraid to ask. . .

There is a way you can restore your car to peak performance in no time. At JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER, we perform a unique service called air induction cleaning. Air induction service is advised on a regular maintenance basis, but is often especially effective with cars operating under severe driving conditions.

When should I consider an Air Induction Service?

When your car is not performing properly, is hesitating or is exhibiting signs of emissions problems bring it in so our experts can determine if an Air Induction Service will improve its performance.

What does Air Induction do for my car’s engine?

Heat causes build up of carbon and varnish in your car’s engine and the crusted deposits act as a sponge soaking up fuel and restricting air flow. The results are poor engine efficiency, high stress on critical engine components and higher levels of toxic emissions. We introduce a special cleaning agent into the intake manifold with the engine running. This agent dissolves the carbon deposits, which are then emitted out of the tail pipe.

This often results in the kind of performance you had when your car was brand new.
Fuel efficiency can be significantly boosted.
Harmful pollutants are reduced.
The overall life of your car’s engine may be prolonged.
This service, like all services performed at JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER, is advised based on manufacturer’s recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.

BRAKING SYSTEM SERVICE
Everything you wanted to know about your BRAKES but were afraid to ask. . .

When it comes to safety, no part of your car is more important than the brakes. They should be inspected at least once a year to determine the condition of the hydraulic system and operating hardware. While the entire braking system requires attention, the friction materials - the pads, shoes, rotors and drums - require constant attention because they wear down each time you apply your brakes.

How can I tell when my brakes need servicing?

The brake pedal can be depressed nearly to the floor.
You hear a squealing or other unusual noise when you apply the brakes. Some brands of brake pads have a built-in device that produces a high-pitched squeal when the brake pads are getting low.
The car pulls to one side when you apply the brakes.
You feel a grinding or bumpy sensation as you come to a stop.
In general, if there is something about your brakes that is making you uncomfortable, you should have them inspected.
What is included in the Lifetime Brake Service?

We begin with a comprehensive inspection of your car’s entire braking system.
Pads and shoes are replaced and warranted for as long as you own the car.
Wheel bearings are repacked as needed.
The backing plate and caliper anchor are lubricated.
The brake fluid is topped off.
The hydraulic system is purged of air and adjusted.
Drums and rotors are refinished if they have become scored.
At an additional cost, the drums and rotors are replaced if they are too badly worn.
Based on our inspection, there may be other components that may need to be replaced.
Metallic pads are extra. Please see your center’s manager for details.
ABS Braking Systems

Our technicians are also experts in servicing the computer-controlled components of the anti-lock (ABS) braking systems that are common on today’s cars.

All of the parts we install are guaranteed to meet or exceed manufacturer’s standards. If you wish, we’ll return your old brake parts to you.

This service, like all services performed at JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER, is advised based on manufacturer’s recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.

FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM SERVICE
Everything you wanted to know about your FUEL INJECTORS but were afraid to ask. . .

Not too long ago, most cars used a carburetor to deliver fuel into the engine. But today, almost every car uses fuel injection. Fuel injection cleaning is now a necessary maintenance service required on todays' cars, trucks and SUVs.

When should I consider a Fuel Injection Service?

When your car is hesitating, having trouble starting, achieving poor gas mileage or operating sluggish with poor performance bring it in so our experts can determine if a Fuel Injection Service will improve its performance.

What does Fuel Injection Service do for my car?

The injectors - particularly the injector nozzles - exist in an environment where tremendous heat is generated. The burning of the fuel leaves hardened carbon deposits on piston valves and fuel injector nozzle heads that interferes with the spray pattern and flow of fuel. At JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER, we introduce a liquid cleaning agent into the injection nozzle. This dissolves the carbon deposits and restores proper fuel flow into the combustion chamber.

After this service your car can achieve optimum gas mileage.
There’s a reduction of toxic emissions.
Your car should give you better response and performance.
And your engine may last longer.
Fuel injection service, like all services performed at JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER, is advised based on manufacturer’s recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.

FLUID MAINTENANCE SERVICES
Everything you wanted to know about your ENGINE OIL & OTHER VITAL FLUIDS but were afraid to ask. . .

The services that are most often neglected by drivers are also some of the easiest to take care of. The expensive, sophisticated engines in today’s cars can be utterly destroyed by improper care of fluids. Fluid maintenance services are a JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER specialty.

Oil Changes

Expert technicians agree that the oil change is the single most important maintenance service your car can receive.

When does my car’s oil need changed?

Most manufacturers recommend an oil change every three months or 3,000 miles under severe driving conditions - city driving, stop and go traffic, short trips, dusty conditions - just about every case except steady highway driving.

What does an Express Hassle-Free Oil Change include?

up to 5 quarts of major brand oil
new oil filter
lubrication of the various fittings on your car’s undercarriage when applicable
thorough maintenance inspection of all safety and performance related systems
Please note that individual GOODYEAR centers may offer various oil change options. Be sure to ask the center manager about the different options available.

Transmission and Differential Fluids

In addition to the oil change, transmission and differential fluids must be changed to assure proper operation. On four-wheel drive vehicles, the transfer case also requires regular fluid maintenance. Neglecting transmission and differential fluid service could result in extensive repairs, or the replacement of some of your vehicles most expensive components.

JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER generally recommends these services every 30,000 miles. For your vehicle, refer to the manufacturer’s maintenance recommendation.

Oil, Transmission and Differential Fluid changes are performed based on manufacturer’s recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.

COOLANT SYSTEM SERVICE
Everything you wanted to know about your COOLING SYSTEM (or RADIATOR) but were afraid to ask. . .

The engines in many of the cars on the road today are smaller than they used to be, as well as being far more efficient. But they also produce a great deal of heat. The cooling system is responsible for maintaining the engine at an acceptable operating temperature.

When does the Cooling System need service?

The Cooling System should be checked yearly. Failure to maintain the cooling system can result in overheating, which can cause severe damage to the engine.

What is included in the Cooling System Service?

The pressure conditions and coolant volume are checked.
The radiator cap is checked that it functions and fits correctly.
Radiator hoses are checked that they are not worn, cracked or disintegrating.
Engine belts are checked.
Are there environmental concerns?

JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER services cooling systems in an environmentally safe way. We pump out the existing coolant and properly dispose of the used coolant according to EPA standards. We service the cooling system with a conditioner, which will clean out your system. We then re-fill the system with new anti-freeze, adding a coolant system sealer when recommended. The last step of the process is to purge the system of all air pockets, ensuring that the cooling fans function in a timely manner.

As with all services you receive at JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER, the parts we install will meet or exceed original equipment manufacturer's specifications, and all used parts will be returned to you upon request.

Cooling system service is advised based on manufacturer's recommendations or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.

TIRES
Everything you wanted to know about your TIRES but were afraid to ask. . .

All drivers want peak performance from their tires, as they are an additional costly investment to the vehicle. Just as you have your oil changed with frequency, so should you have your tires checked to help reduce accidents, save gasoline, and keep your tires going longer.

How do I tell if my car needs new tires?

While there are certainly a number of visual cues when determing if your tires are in proper operating condition (don't forget your spare!), as part of a complete maintenance inspection, you should be able to have the below tire safety items checked by a certified technician. Before replacing your tires, be sure to consult with your owner's manual and follow the vehicle's manufacturer recommendations, as vehicle handling may be affected by a change in tire size or type.

In addition, did you know that tire age is an important factor in tire safety? When it comes to determining the age of a tire, it is easy to identify when a tire was manufactured by reading its Tire Identification Code (serial number). Unlike vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and the serial numbers used on many other consumer goods (which identify a specific item), the Tire Identification Codes are really batch codes that identify which week and year the tire was produced.

Tire Codes After 2000: The week and year the tire was manufactured is contained in the last four digits of the series, with 2 digits used to identify the week a tire was manufactured immediately preceding digits identifying the year. Example:
XXXXXXXX 0600 (06, manufactured during the 6th week of the year; 00 is the year it was manufactured)
Tire Codes Prior to 2000: the Tire Identification Code for tires was based on the assumption that no tire would be in service for 10 years. They were required to provide the same information, but the last three digits identified the week followed by the year of the decade. Example:
XXXXXXXX 068 (06, manufactured during the 6th week of the year; 8 is the 8th year of the decade in which it was manufactured)
What can JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER do to help keep your tires going?

Tire Pressure: Under or over-inflation can result in irregular wear, loss of control and accidents. A tire can lose up to half of its air pressure and not appear to be flat! Please have your tire pressure checked with every oil change. (Recommended air pressure is posted on the driver's door or in the glove compartment.)
Tire Alignment: If your vehicle is pulling to one side or shaking, it may be out of alignment and causing damage to your tires. Have your vehicle checked for proper alignment periodically, especially if you notice driving irregularities.
Tire Rotation: Regular rotation of tires promotes more even wear, which in turn prolongs tire life. The general guideline for tire rotation is every other oil change (or every 6,000 to 7,500 miles), unless otherwise directed by your vehicle or tire manufacturer.
Tire Tread: While the penny test can do the trick if you're in a pinch (legal tread depth is 2/32 of an inch - the exact distance from the tip of Abe's head to the rim of a penny), you may feel more comfortable having your certified technician measure this during an inspection. Note that in many states, it is illegal to drive on tires that below safe tread depth.
All of the parts we install are guaranteed to meet or exceed manufacturer standards, and if you wish, we'll return all of your old parts to you.

This service, like all services performed at JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER, is advised based on your manufacturer's recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards. Selling and servicing of tires is offered at participating Precision Tune Auto Care locations, please see GOODYEAR for your neighborhood location.

TUNE UP
Yes, TUNE-UP is still a relevant service, whether it includes SPARK PLUGS or not. . .

When your car is properly tuned, the ignition system, fuel system, emission system and the computer system are all working together. This results in peak combustion chamber efficiency, saving you money at the gas pump and making sure your car is emitting a minimum of pollutants.

How do I tell if my car needs a Tune-Up?

Check your owner's manual. Tune-up intervals are different for each car.

Many people assume a tune-up will solve a drivability problem. That's not always the case. Our experts perform a tune-up verification to confirm that your car will benefit from a tune-up. Your problem may be unrelated to a tune-up and may need an engine diagnosis.

What does a Precision Tune Auto Care Tune-Up include?

A tune-up verification
Replacement of spark plugs
Emission levels analysis
Timing/idle speed adjustment (if adjustable)
A complete maintenance inspection
All of the parts we install are guaranteed to meet or exceed manufacturer standards, and if you wish, we'll return all of your old parts to you.

This service, like all services performed at JASONS AUTO REPAIR CENTER, is advised based on your manufacturer's recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.
